About The Codex Coding

Free programming education, built to last. No accounts. No paywalls. No ads. Just the best reference we can build.

What this is

The Codex Coding is a free programming university covering 11 languages, core CS concepts, software engineering principles, and guided learning paths. Every page is built from official language specifications and authoritative primary sources. Everything is free, requires no account, and carries no ads.

It's part of The Codex — a broader project building reliable, free reference knowledge across disciplines.

Why it exists

Programming education online is fragmented. Official documentation is authoritative but often assumes prior knowledge. Tutorial sites vary wildly in quality and bury content behind paywalls or email captures. Video courses are useful but not searchable or scannable.

The Codex Coding aims to be the reference layer — something between official documentation and a course. Clear enough for beginners, deep enough for professionals, reliable enough to cite.

How it's built

Every factual claim is sourced to official specifications, language documentation, or peer-reviewed academic sources. Each page shows its source confidence level (High / Medium / Low) and primary source. When something is uncertain or debated, we say so.

Pages are structured in three levels: Curious (accessible overview), Exploring (deeper with trade-offs and common mistakes), and Deep Dive (formal definitions, specification references, implementation details).
