Why "participate" instead of just "hold"
For most beginners, simply buying and holding crypto is the right starting point — and for many people, it should stay the whole strategy. But once you understand what you own and why, some networks and protocols let you do more with it: help secure a blockchain and earn rewards, or provide the liquidity that decentralised exchanges need to function, earning a share of trading fees. These aren't shortcuts to free money — they're real activities with real risks — but understanding them honestly is worth doing before anyone else's exaggerated promises reach you first.
How to think about this section
Each guide here focuses on one specific way to participate: what it actually involves, where the rewards genuinely come from (never "magic" — always some real activity or risk you're being compensated for), and — just as importantly — the specific risks each one carries that marketing rarely emphasises. Start with whichever matches what you already hold, and don't feel any pressure to do either if simply holding suits you better.
