गायत्री

Gāyatrī family

The Gāyatrī mantra itself, plus the deity-specific Gāyatrī variants composed on the same metrical model.

Canonical definition
The Gāyatrī mantra (Ṛg Veda 3.62.10), addressed to Savitṛ, is composed in the Gāyatrī meter — 24 syllables across three lines of eight. This meter proved so significant that later tradition composed parallel "Gāyatrī mantras" to other deities on the same model, such as the Gaṇeśa Gāyatrī and Sarasvatī Gāyatrī. This hub keeps the original Vedic Gāyatrī clearly distinguished from these later, structurally-modeled compositions, rather than treating them as equally ancient.
