Rasa Ratna Samucchaya (classical compound formulation)
Arogyavardhini sarvarogahara — Arogyavardhini is the destroyer of all diseases, particularly those of the Yakrit (liver), Tvak (skin), Meda (fat), and Dosha combinations that produce metabolic disease. Its power comes from the synergistic combination of Rasa (purified mercury compound), Kutki, Guggulu, and Triphala acting simultaneously on the liver channels, the fat channels, and the metabolic fire.

Classical composition

The primary ingredients documented in classical texts and API: Shuddha Parada (purified mercury), Shuddha Gandhaka (purified sulfur) — combined as Kajjali; Loha Bhasma (iron bhasma); Abhrak Bhasma (mica bhasma); Tamra Bhasma (copper bhasma); Kutki (Picrorhiza kurroa) — the primary hepatoprotective herb component; Triphala (three fruits); Guggulu resin; Nimba (Neem); Shilajit; Chitraka; and several other herbs. The Kajjali component is the reason Arogyavardhini belongs to Rasa Shastra — the Shodhana (purification) and Marana (calcination) processing of mercury and sulfur are essential quality steps.

Rasa Shastra — quality critical
Arogyavardhini Vati contains purified heavy metal compounds. Only purchase from manufacturers with documented ICP-MS heavy metal testing showing mercury, arsenic, and lead levels within WHO guideline limits. API Part II, Vol II specifies quality standards including Kajjali tests (Rekhapurna, Varitara) and heavy metal limits. Baidyanath and Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala are among the manufacturers with documented Rasa Shastra quality protocols. Self-preparation is absolutely inappropriate.
Research evidence for liver and metabolic conditions
Multiple clinical studies have documented Arogyavardhini Vati for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), with significant improvement in liver enzymes (ALT, AST, ALP) and hepatic steatosis on imaging. Research published in Ayu (the Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine) and conducted through CCRAS-affiliated institutions documents benefits consistent with the classical Yakritvikar indications. The Kutki component's Picroliv content is the likely primary hepatoprotective mechanism.
