Recreational mathematics has often been the entry point for serious mathematical ideas. The Four Colour Theorem began as a puzzle. Euler's solution of the Königsberg bridge problem founded graph theory. The study of what a game-winning strategy is formalized into combinatorial game theory. This domain also includes the International Mathematical Olympiad and the educational tradition of mathematics teaching globally.
