π’ The simple version
Plain English β no jargon. Start here.
Radiant Capital is an omnichain DeFi lending protocol built on LayerZero that lets users deposit collateral on one chain and borrow on another β but suffered a devastating $50M hack in October 2024 via a sophisticated social engineering attack on its multisig signers.
The October 2024 hack
In October 2024, Radiant Capital was exploited for ~$50 million in one of DeFi's most sophisticated attacks. Attackers compromised three of Radiant's multisig signers through malware distributed via social engineering (malicious PDF documents). The compromised keys were used to upgrade smart contracts and drain user funds across Arbitrum and BSC. The attack highlighted the vulnerability of multisig-based upgrades even in otherwise well-designed protocols. Is RDNT legal in India? Yes. 30% tax, 1% TDS apply.

For when you want to go a little deeper.
Radiant pre-hack
Before the hack, Radiant Capital was a growing omnichain lending protocol β users could deposit ETH on Arbitrum and borrow USDC on BSC, or vice versa. RDNT holders earned protocol fees from cross-chain lending activity. The LayerZero integration enabled this multi-chain collateralisation. Post-hack, the team paused all markets and worked on recovery.
