What a blockchain ecosystem is
A blockchain is more than its coin. Around each major chain grows an ecosystem: the decentralised apps built on it, the developers and communities maintaining it, the DeFi protocols, NFT marketplaces, games, and tools, and the distinct culture and trade-offs that make each chain feel different. Two chains can both "do smart contracts" yet have completely different strengths, costs, and vibes. These pages map the major ecosystems so you can see what each is actually for.
How to read these
Each ecosystem page focuses on the chain as a whole — its design philosophy, what's built on it, where it excels, and what to watch out for — rather than the price or tokenomics of its coin (those live on the coin pages). Think of the coin page as "the asset" and the ecosystem page as "the world."
