The Energy Codex is not any of the following:

• Financial or investment advice — No content on this site should be used to make financial or investment decisions. Energy statistics, costs, and projections are documented from named sources for informational purposes only.
• Legal advice — Nothing on this site constitutes legal advice of any kind.
• Engineering or safety advice — Energy system specifications, technical data, and process descriptions are for informational purposes only and must not be used for engineering, design, or safety decisions without professional consultation.
• Policy advice — The codex documents existing policies (NDCs, national targets, regulations) but does not recommend any policy position.
• Real-time data — Energy data changes. Statistics are attributed to the source publication from which they were drawn and were verified as of the date shown on each page. They may have changed since that date.

Accuracy and limitations

Despite careful sourcing from named Tier-1 institutions, the following limitations apply:

Data currency: Energy statistics change constantly — installed capacity, production levels, prices, and reserve estimates are updated annually or more frequently by the source institutions. Statistics in this codex were verified at the date shown on each page (typically April 2026). Users requiring current data should consult the primary sources directly via the links on the Sources page.

GPS coordinates: All GPS coordinates are sourced from Global Energy Monitor (CC BY 4.0) and the World Resources Institute Global Power Plant Database (CC BY 4.0), cross-verified where possible. Coordinates are approximate centre-points of facilities and should not be used for navigation or legal boundary purposes.

Currency conversion: All INR/USD conversions are approximate and based on rates current at time of writing. Exchange rates fluctuate. For financial calculations, use current rates from a reliable financial source.

Sources policy

The Energy Codex cites only Tier-1 institutional sources — named organisations with clear editorial standards, institutional accountability, and methodology disclosure. No blog posts, no undated web pages, no anonymous data sources. Every statistic traces to a named source accessible at the URL given on the relevant page.

Open data used under license: Global Energy Monitor data (CC BY 4.0); WRI Global Power Plant Database (CC BY 4.0). License declarations appear on pages using this data. IPCC AR6 is published under open access. All other sources are cited as public institutional publications.
