Marma — 107 Vital Points
मर्म — from Mri (to kill/die) — that which, if injured, produces death or disability
Sushruta Samhita, Sharira 5 documents 107 Marma — vital anatomical junctions where the convergence of muscle, vessel, tendon, bone, and joint creates concentrated Prana flow. Injury to these points produces specific, predictable consequences from severe pain to immediate death. Clinically, they are also the most therapeutically responsive points in the body.
Sushruta Samhita, Sharira 5.3
Mamsam sira snayu asthi sandhi sannipatah — Marma are the locations where Mamsa (muscle), Sira (vessels), Snayu (tendons), Asthi (bone), and Sandhi (joints) meet together. At these junctions, Prana (vital force) is concentrated. Injury to these points produces specific, predictable consequences ranging from pain and disability to death.
